Message from our Director

Welcome to the North Adams Community Memorial Library web site!

A library can be the heart of the community and that is my vision for our library. A place to meet friends, work on projects, prepare homework and, keep in touch with distant friends and family.

It has been a long time since I updated this message! There have been many projects worked on since last summer. There is a flyer in the library that outlines all the progress in this past year. Only thing is, the biggest news is in the current fiscal year and won't make the flyer until next year.

We had a millage campaign and you passed our request for a millage!

We are looking forward to many changes for you. Added hours, at least one part-time person to help out, and building and collection improvements. Even though the millage has been passed it will be a few months before any of the money arrives. Until then, we are on the old budget - very little money.

The Woodlands Library Cooperative again gave us a grant for patron services and we are using it to provide you with access to three library services. Officially beginning October 1 (you can use it now), you will be able to use your library card to gain access to:

ComicsPlus will allow you to download comic books and graphic novels to your tablet, iPad, Kindle Fire, etc.

Transparent Language will help you to learn a language or refresh your skills. It even includes specialized vocabularies!

Zinio will allow you to download magazines to your tablet, iPad, Kindle Fire, etc.

The only thing you need to take advantage of these services is your library card!

The library is still looking for donations of North Adams-Jerome school yearbooks. If you find that you are in possession of yearbooks that you no longer want, please consider donating them to the library. They will become part of our Local History collection. They will be for use only in the library. We want to preserve them for the future while making them available for the use of the community.

Which yearbooks do we need? It's easier to tell you what we have! We HAVE: 1955, 1956. 1974, 1976, 1977. 1980, 1985, 1986, 1987. 2000, 2005, and 2007 thru 2016. Any other years that you would like to donate will be gladly accepted and added to the collection.

See you soon!
